Not a fan of those Kawasaki engines, I’ve had two of them, they don’t break down, but they lack power and torque. I have a fuel injected Briggs right now and I’m very happy with it, mine is on a Ferris, which in my opinion is a superior mower compared to most of the others, this one included. It cuts exceptionally well, and is very comfortable, the suspension is second to none. And working on it for maintenance is very easy. Just my opinion.

They make a cutter for that flexible conduit. It costs about $40. It makes the process a bit easier.

Brock I've always had the thery of work smarter not harder if you can take the nuts off of the Rods on both sides of the rail beams then attach a chain to one side and lift the Rod out of the beam with the skid loader or the tractor 🚜

There’s lots of people out there just like you. I’m roughly the same age as you and I get big eyes for projects and opportunities all the time and jump headlong into them, only to shift gears later. I think I’ve gotten better at heading those off over time. I think. I also think your growth and loyal base probably has a lot to do with how much common ground there is between us and those aspects of yours. Keep up the great work!

use a large hammer drill, rather than your hammer

Tangential shrinkage (tangent or parallel to growth rings) is greater than radial shrinkage (along tree’s radius) which is greater than longitudinal shrinkage (up and down the tree). Uneven shrinkage in the radial and tangential directions = warping/cupping/checking during drying. The closer to the same length all the growth rings are in the cross section of the board, the more even the shrinkage and thus the more stable the lumber. Therefore, quartersawn lumber is more stable than flat sawn, but isn’t as practical to mill! Tendency to deform when drying also varies by species. As an example, red pine twists like crazy. Eastern white pine, not so much.

I'd actually suggest to your wife that if the drainage is better after June 1st then you should toss wild-flower seeds there in September-December so that next time you both want to manage that area you'll have to do it in a way that doesn't hurt your wildflower-investment(no mowing from September-June1st or whatever your state's wildflower management mowing is. The flowers must reseed or it's an expensive meadow).

If you pay attention to your lumber that you buy at box stores, you’ll see they don’t cull anything and if you don’t cull it when you pick it out, you will end up kicking yourself in the long run. Great explanation Brock! I’d say the majority of their support posts are juvenile wood and junk in my opinion.

I am not as organized as I’d like to be either but at least stay busy doing things I enjoy. Also, I think salvaging those old beams will pay off in the end.
